A Sold-Out Earnest Production!

February News Flash – A Sold Out Earnest, and what happened at the Annual General Meeting!

If you haven’t seen FEST & ESOC’s co-production of The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde, directed by our own Mark Mineart, then it may be too late!  All 8 planned shows were virtually sold out across 3 venues before the curtain even went up for its premier on Friday, Feb 4th!  The cast and crew graciously agreed to add paid “rehearsal viewings” in Darmstadt and Wiesbaden and the calls for more appearances keep flooding in!  Break a leg, team, in upcoming shows!  The  last chance to see it is a paid Rehearsal Viewing in Wiesbaden, at the Amelia Earhart Playhouse.  Contact them on 0611 816 2473 for details quickly!

Thanks to all that came out to the  FEST Annual General Meeting and Welcome to 2011 party in January.  This time, FEST held the meeting and party at James the Bar in the English Theatre.  Everyone that came enjoyed free food and drink and a great environment for after-meeting socializing.  By all accounts, it was a great time!

Congratulations to the newly elected FEST 2011 Committee:

Chairman – Jeff Book (re-elected)

Vice Chairman – Patrick O’Sullivan (newly elected)

Treasurer – Patrick Nolan (re-elected)

Secretary – Kerstin Buck (newly elected)

Ordinary member – Mark Mineart (newly elected)

Auditors – David Mark (newly elected), Andreas Eschenbacher (re-elected)

We’re also proud to announce the induction of 4 members into the rolls of FEST Honorary Members.  Congratulations to them on being voted in, but more importantly, our sincere appreciation and gratitude goes out to them for their significant contributions to FEST over many, many years!

A special thanks to Wayne Ziants for staying on as Membership Secretary until his departure from Germany in April 2011.  Also a special thanks to April van Ert and David Mark for running the election process during the committee meeting!  Those in attendance were appreciative of the event, the sharing of information about what FEST has done in 2010, and hearing first-hand about the big plans for 2011!  Minutes from the meeting will be sent to members in the coming week.

Speaking of big plans, here’s the latest:

We’ve had a request for help with a  search for a female actor based in Frankfurt.  Mike Bouchet is an American artist based in Frankfurt.  He is currently working on a new video which is a fictionalisation of someone with a multiple personality disorder.  He’s looking for a female actor who has strong improvisation skills.  She needs to be young and good looking, and would need to be available for 1 or 2 days within the next two weeks and in Frankfurt.  The actor would portray a patient with 6 different personalities and perform this in a 1 take session.  The film will be exhibited in Paris mid-March.  Please get in touch directly with Dana Munro on 0176-5959 8897

ESOC, our friends in Darmstadt, have announced they will be hosting a  Theatre Workshop, Saturday, March 5th and Sunday, March 6th, in their HoffART theatre.  Nigel Harvey from Sweden is coming to run the workshop, themes are Group Dynamics, Storytelling & Stagecraft.  Workshop fee is €25, coffee, tea and soft drinks provided.  To register, send email to  [email protected]
