March Newsflash!

BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH!  Earnest production recap and news about the upcoming Spring Production!

Dearly beloved member of FEST,

Spring is almost in the air, as is the previous esteemed Membership Secretary / Newsflash Editor, so it has fallen upon my fingers to direct email communications for the foreseeable future. Without any further ado, let’s move on to the major upcoming FEST events and other drama events taking place in Frankfurt and surroundings.

Thanks for your attention!

Patrick O’Sullivan will take over the position of Newsflash Editor.

FEST’s 35th Anniversary

FEST plans to celebrate its 35th Anniversary during the autumn of 2012. We are looking for volunteers to form a small team to come up with ways of marking this occasion. Is there a theatrical project that you feel would be appropriate to celebrate FEST as it enters its mid-thirties?

Please contact Jeff Book or Patrick O’Sullivan  [email protected] to volunteer.

Workshops? Play Readings? Suggestions?

The FEST committee has decided to gather input from you, the membership, about activities that you would like to take part in over the next year. To that end, you will receive a survey from us shortly. We would be grateful if you would take some time to fill it out and return it to us. We need your input to decide the direction in which you want to take the organisation.

Full-Length Play November 2011

We are still looking for ideas for our full-length production in November 2011. Do you have an original script burning a hole in your pocket? Fancy making a splash as a first-time director?  Please contact Jeff or Patrick at  [email protected]  if you have any proposals or ideas.

The Importance Of Remembering “Earnest”

In case you missed it, The Importance of Being Earnest, the first FEST/ESOC co-production was an unqualified success in every area. Our run at the ITF was completely sold out.  Our run in Darmstadt at the Hoffart was also completely sold out. The production was also invited to play for a weekend at the Amelia Earhart Playhouse in Wiesbaden where we not only extended our performance dates after booking, but sold those all out as well!

In terms of the work, we had an incredible team made up of folks from FEST & ESOC, both on the boards and behind the scenes, all of whom went above and beyond to make the play a tremendously good time for our audiences. We also got some fantastic press in the Darmstadt Echo, and were the first English speaking amateur theatre they have ever reviewed! Audience reactions were unanimously positive with many commenting it was one of the finest FEST productions they had ever seen. Congratulations to all who helped make Earnest happen, and many thanks to all who came out to see and support the theatre and the production!

Incorruptible

The Amelia Earhart Playhouse, Wiesbaden’s English-language theater, proudly presents “INCORRUPTIBLE,” a rollicking American farce by Michael Hollinger. Performance dates are Wednesdays through Saturdays, 16 March through 26 March 2010. All performances begin at 7:30 PM.

A lightning-fast, farcical romp, INCORRUPTIBLE is set in French monastery where the Dark Ages still look pretty dark and miracles are in short supply — until a larcenous, one-eyed minstrel arrives with an outrageous new way to pay old debts!

The Playhouse is located at Konrad-Adenauer-Ring 39, just a five-minute drive from the Wiesbaden main train station. Tickets are $12 or €12 for adults, and $8 or €8 for students and senior citizens (over 65). “INCORRUPTIBLE” is suitable for all audiences except small children. Guests without US military ID cards should provide Ausweis or passport numbers in advance. For reservations and information, phone the Playhouse at DSN 336-2473 or 0611-816-2473.

INCORRUPTIBLE is an unusual theatrical treat full of laughs, mayhem, and hyperactive madness — an evening of fun not to be missed!
