FEATS

Festival of European Anglophone Theatrical Societies

For many years, FEST has been participating in FEATS, the Festival of European Anglophone Theatrical Societies, the largest English-language theatre festival on the European continent. We are one of the regular hosts of this travelling one-act festival (1991, 1996, 2003, 2010, 2017). In 2023 FEST hosted FEATS for the sixth time at the Kurtheater Bad Homburg.

In recent years we have received a number of FEATS awards, such as the Award for Best Original Play, (2012, The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs) the Blackie Award for Best Actress (2009, Death in Heels and 2006, Wasp), the ECC Centennial Cup for Second Place (2008, Eleemosynary), the Mervyn Briscoe Award for Second Place (2006, WASP), the Marcel Huhn-Bruno Boeye Trophy for Stage Management (2004, Anti! Anti!) and the Award for Best Supporting Actor (1985, Between Mouthfuls).

Sponsor FEST’s entry to FEATS in 2024!

FEATS will take place in Antwerp on 17-20 May, 2024. Our entry to FEATS 2024 is “Old Saybrook”, a short farcical play from Woody Allen’s collection of plays in “Writer’s Block”, which premiered at The Atlantic Theatre Company in New York City in March 2003.  Each play is an absurdist take on marital infidelity.  In “Old Saybrook”, an orthodontist, Norman, and his wife Sheila, are hosting Jenny, Sheila’s sister, and her husband David, a plastic surgeon at their grand suburban house in Connecticut.  When a couple who once owned the house stops by, they spark an old-fashioned sex farce that is full of verve and cunning.  A secret diary is found, or purposefully introduced (?) which reveals a myriad of previously undisclosed sexual relationships and entanglements between the couples.  Just as all begins to unravel, Max shows up to bring a dangerous twist.

We are always looking for sponsors to support us in putting up our FEATS entry. Your contribution, no matter how small, will be invaluable. Please contact [email protected] for more details.
