About the play: Meet Nora and Torvald, a middle-class couple and parents to three children. Happy. Content. For now. Everything is not as it seems, though, and a secret from Nora’s past comes back to haunt her. Her friends Dr. Rank and Kristine are not the only ones to see that Nora is not the little doll everyone expects her to be. Herzog reimagines Ibsen’s classic as a contemporary drama about the perfect family next door.
Cast:
Nora Helmer (f, 25-35): Torvald’s wife and mother of their two children. She has a secret that could threaten her marriage and middle-class lifestyle. She is seen as silly and naive by her peers, but grows into an independent woman over the course of the play.
Torvald Helmer (m, 30-40): Nora’s husband who works as a manager at a bank. He needs all things and people in his life to be proper and beautiful. His superficial view of the world clashes with Nora’s childlike wonder and her growing need for independence.
Dr. Rank (m, 25-40): A wealthy doctor and good friend of the Helmer family. A serious illness has turned him into a realist, a stark contrast to Nora and Torvald. He is secretly in love with Nora and confides in her.
Nils Krogstad (m, 25-40): An employee at Torvald’s bank who knows about Nora’s secret and threatens to expose her. He is desperate to get ahead in his career and will use any means necessary to fulfill his ambitions. He was engaged to Kristine Linde in the past.
Kristine Linde (f, 25-35), Nora’s best friend who is recently widowed. Sensible and caring, she is figuring out how to make her own way in the world. She was engaged to Nils Krogstad in the past.
Anne-Marie (f, 45-60): Nora’s former nanny who is now helping her with raising her three children. As a young woman, she had to give up her own child for adoption to care for Nora.
Ivar and Emmy (8-16): The Helmer children who spent most of their time with Anne-Marie.
Please note: Anne-Marie and the children are small roles that will not be on-stage roles. Actors will interact with Nora and the family through video and/or audio recordings. Presence at some rehearsals is necessary for the role of Anne-Marie. Videography will most likely take place in July. Experience with camera acting is welcome, but not required!

Apart from promotional material and headshots of our Cast & Creative Team, we need a few “flashback” photos of our main cast (themes: girls trip, wedding, portraits) that will be part of the set design.
Videographer + Video Editor
Since we will be using multimedia elements in this play, mainly audio messages and/or videos (pre-recorded video “calls” and flashback scenes), I am looking for someone who is interested in shooting some scenes with our actors, most likely in July.
Some in-person availability in Frankfurt in the month of July is necessary, editing can be done remotely until the end of August.
If the videographer is also interested in video editing, this position can be held by the same person, but can also be split between two people.
